At the threshold of inner and outer worlds, we cultivate affective, ecological and relational ways of being.

Studio binnen [ ] buiten is an independent studio by artist and haptonomic professional Rosalie Bak (Amsterdam, NL) working at the intersection of affective research, embodiment and spatial practices, with a strong focus on ecology, art, and somatic care. 

As multidisciplinary maker she is interested in the ambiguous relationship between people and their non/living environments and explores how to make complex predicaments experiential through the body.

Her practice spans from the development of new methodologies and pedagogies to storytelling, writing, drawing and the design of workshops, walks and experiences, often working with communities, creatives, (artistic) research groups and the more-than-human world. 

Rosalie studied at the Utrecht School of the Arts (Utrecht, NL) and Academie voor Haptonomie (Doorn, NL)

*Haptonomy is a form of somatic guidance that uses touch, interaction and attunement exercises to help people become more aware of their body, emotions and physical sensations.

Hier hou ik me dit jaar mee bezig / 2025

  • Momenteel doe ik artistiek- en affectief ontwerpend onderzoek naar binnen/buiten weer’s fenomenen - de ervaren relatie tussen het weer in jezelf en om je heen Dat doe ik lopend, samen met anderen. Je kan je hier aanmelden voor de volgende seizoens exploratie. Ik werk toe naar een zine en publiekswandeling medio September 2025, met support van het AFK.

    Eerder werkte ik als ontwerpend onderzoeker en concept ontwikkelaar mee aan onderzoeks- en innovatie projecten op de grens van stad, gebiedsontwikkeling en de levend(ig)en omgeving. O.a. als onderdeel van Waag voor het Horizon Europe T-factor en als onderdeel van SWSL voor het NEB Desire.

  • Haptonomie houdt zich bezig met de fenomenen van menselijke interacties en tast. In 2025 start ik met Tast Lab, experimenteer plaats voor het aangeraakte. Onder deze noemer host ik workshops en modules voor de creatieve industrie en onderzoek. Ook ontwikkel ik maatwerk workshops, facilitate en programma o.a. voor UVA, Prins Claus Fonds, Platform DIS, Stille Wateren Festival.

    In de periode 2024/2025 draag ik als haptonomisch kunstprofessional bij aan het project van Margherita Soldati; Soil to life to soil. Ik ondersteun haar in het betrekken van zintuiglijke en voelende ervaringen in artistieke onderzoek. Samen ontwikkelen we mappings, tools en methoden voor subjectieve ‘data-collectie’ als aanvulling op o.a. DNA sequencing van bodem- en microbioom.

  • Ik woon momenteel met veel plezier in Amsterdam Nieuws West als onderdeel van Bookstore Foundation. Iedere week ben ik daar op de woensdag ochtend te vinden in ruimte @De Lente op de Diderodestraat in Amsterdam. Van 10:00 - 11:00 kan je mee naar buiten met Community Wandelclub Met weer en Wind. Daarna is er tot 14:00 open inloop.

  • Sinds 2023 ben ik commissielid voor de deelregeling vormgeving bij Stimuleringsfonds Creatieve Industrie, o.a. op dossiers rondom biodesign, materiaal ontwikkeling, ecologie en sociaal ontwerp.
